Tasting Notes

Color : Deep vibrant purple, red

Nose : An elegant wine with tremendous levels of concentration and flavor ripe raspberries, dark red berries, warm cedar with a hint of vanilla and a spicy, peppery undertone.

Palate : A silky, glossy palate. Beautiful tannins with a delightful, silky, lingering finish.

Alcohol Content : 15.4%

Small yields and dry-grown, the 1905 block delivers wines layered with texture, flavour, complexity and length.
Hobbs’ magnificent block of gnarled old vines, planted in 1905 are low yielding and produce fruit of the highest quality. Some of the Barossa’s oldest Shiraz, these vines have stood the test of time, consistently providing fruit with complexity and distinct varietal characteristics. The vines are hand pruned and the fruit is handpicked. Vines as precious as these deserve to be hand tended, and they receive all the love and care needed to produce wines built for the long haul.

Winemaking

The grapes are handpicked from dry grown, low yielding vines planted in 1905. Naturally fermented in open 500L vats, gently hand plunged each day. The wine is matured in new French oak Hogsheads for 24 months.
